Vietnamese Indigo has accumulated a following of 15.8k since its curation in mid 2019 – a collaborative feed, intended to showcase authentic fashion. Expressing his discord in the monotonous attire that many endorse, he finds himself ‘sick’ of the consistency and lack of expression in conventional streetwear and dress sense – Showcasing his self-awareness and individuality, Võ simulates a raw and cut-edge style, embracing aspects of 70s glam rock aesthetic, postpunk, and decorative hippie, or Japanese accessories.
Manifesting his cultured taste and views on fashion, Bách sought to create his own platform, inquiring individuals to showcase their personalities and fashion through narrative, multidimensional images. His diligence in the exploration and scrutiny of social boundaries within his community enabled the growth and maturation of this movement. The production of these shared images is an artistic process in itself, declaring a statement behind the love and nature of every gesture, while using the attractive architecture and creative ambience of the city to execute this. Bách’s shared innovative approach in creating fashion imagery provides a clear understanding of the possibilities in casually showcasing one’s style, and personality, on this creative outlet. ‘Indigo symbolises punk spirit, people dress and act in an innate manner’, intercepting the judgements and often, misunderstanding, of older generations, staying true to oneself – a consistent characteristic embodied by the youth of Saigon.
Bách sees Vietnamese youth culture to be improving every day, encapsulating an essence of individuality and punk spirit, inspiring each other in experimenting with their clothing and music.
